Cataracts are a common ocular disorder that interferes with the eye’s ability to see images clearly, resulting in clouded or blurry vision. Cataracts typically occur later in life due to aging of the lens structure. Fortunately, cataracts can be corrected through a routine, out-patient surgery. Dr. Michael McQuillan is pleased to offer cataract surgery co-management as part of his extensive list of services.
If a comprehensive eye exam reveals the presence of cataracts, Dr. McQuillan will provide a referral to a trusted ophthalmologist (eye surgeon). The surgery is typically performed at the surgeon’s office as an out-patient procedure. During surgery, the patient’s natural cloudy lens is carefully removed and replaced with a synthetic lens, thereby restoring clear vision. Cataract surgery causes little to no discomfort and, in most cases, produces excellent, long-term results.
Postoperative care may be performed by an eye doctor other than your cataract surgeon. This is referred to as co-management. Dr. McQuillan is happy to provide this care at our office through a co-management agreement with your cataract surgeon. Feel free to contact us for more information.
